Twilight WinterMy friend,
this is the season of despair
alone on this snow-covered path
looking forward while the wind blows
carrying the bitter frost of past memories.
How foolish I was
building walls of ice around my heart.
My own hostilities keeping us apart,
it made me bitter,
it made me angry,
it made me weep,
it made me lonely.
There you were
looking at me between teardrops.
I had left you bitter and confused.
I had made you lonely enough
Now in this twilight night
on the other side of this road
is a light. A warm glow
that will warm our souls and open our hearts.
The walls will melt long enough
Working TitleShe struggled to get free from her chains but to no avail.
"Why bother hon?" A man in a suit stood in front of her, taunting, "Give it a rest. It's over. Even if you could beat me you'd spend forever playing hero before you'd get to move on. You'd go crazy first. Your kind usually does." He pulled out a knife from his coat pocket. "Goodbye sweetie. Give your brother my regards." He reached back and lunged the knife at her.
"No!" A young man with long black hair threw himself between them, taking the knife in the chest before falling to the ground."
"No," she cried. "Bastard."
"Sticks and stones," he sneered.
"I'll get you for this."
Dusk Ch6Ashe kept combing his hair until he was able to stop it from sticking out of his head like an antenna. He examined himself in front of the mirror making sure nothing was going to fall or stick out. He'd put on a clean pair of black jeans and a white t-shirt under his usual gray sweater. Well, he said to himself, I'm no Johnny Depp, but still not bad.
He grabbed his wallet on the way to the door muttering to himself about what one is supposed to do on a date. Dinner? There weren't that many places in town that looked like a fancy outing. Movie? Ashe heard that there was a theater somewhere, but he wasn't sure. Clich
Dusk Ch4Ashe went to the library the every chance he got. He would roam around the shelves thinking about his night with Nia at the BlackBerry. It wasnt exactly what most would call a great first date or a date at all. They just sat there in a booth enjoying the music and each others company, not really saying much. Still, Ashe wanted to thank her. However, hadnt seen her all week.
He found her sitting on the floor in the far corner of the poetry section, her head buried in the same black book Ashe had seen earlier.
Hey, he said. Nia saw Ashe then quickly spun around to bury the book in a messenger bag she had with her
Dusk Ch3Ashe plugged the headphones into his ears and grabbed whatever papers the teachers had given him throughout the day. A girl from his last period class had given him a flyer that had been around at school. It was for a Pumpkin Bash on Halloween. Being the first week of October, it was still a while away. Ashe wasnt particularly interested, but he had kept the flyer anyway.
Walking out of the school he saw his peers running to their cars, huddling up into their little groups to see what they would do after school, or just rushing to get away from the school itself. The weather had not changed since the morning. It was still c
Dusk Ch2It seemed that this place wasnt exactly booming with excitement. Ashe went to his math, English, and History class with nothing worth remembering. It wasnt like he could remember. All he thought about was that mysterious girl he saw in the library. Teachers would lecture and students would either study or gossip while Ashe just stared out the window.
Who was that girl? Should I find her? What classes does she have? What classes would she have? Should I even try talking to her? She probably already has a boyfriend. Wait, why am I thinking like this? I just met her. I didnt even say anything. I dont even know her
